Chiefs vs Eagles – Season opening home game

Sunday was our first home game of season. We won the season opening game against the Patriots. I’m not sure they were happy about that… lol.

Sunday was season opeing home game though. That meant it was a loud and proud day. It was a lot busier than preseason games… Wow! We didn’t get our “normal” spot on the grass for tailgating. That was fine with me. I’m easy going.

We decided to eat breakfast. One of the ladies walking around said that that was a new one on her. Most people were doing steaks and burgers, etc. I thought to myself, this isn’t the first time we’ve done breakfast….

The gates were supposed to open at 8:30. They opened at 7. There was a guy from Arkansas who is a season ticket holder who left home at like who knows when to be the first one in the gate. They said he’d been at the gate since 3am. Crazy. I’m not that crazy, although I kept saying we needed to have our heads examined because we were up at 5am driving to KC.

My Own Day of Mourning

Today is 9-11. I know where I was on that fateful day 16 years ago. I’ve mentioned it many times here on the ol blog… But I was yelling at my roommate because her alarm was way too darn loud. We had bunk beds and my bed was on top. I hopped off the bed after yelling at her and went off to the bathroom. We had community bathrooms. As I was walking back to my room to go back to sleep, because I didn’t have class until 11 am, I heard Tom Brokaw’s voice. Not something you typically hear in the morning.

I immediately knew something was up. I wandered down the hallway into Jessie’s room, sat down on one of the beds and watched as the second plane hit the second tower. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I asked her what movie she was watching. It was so life like. She told me this was really happening.

People all around campus were glued to the tv, and those who weren’t were waiting in line at the gas stations scared to death about what was going to happen.

Okay, What Gives with the Title?

My Own Day of Mourning. That title has nothing to do with the above paragraphs. 9-11-01 has nothing to do with the title. Let me explain!

7th Anniversary

Hello. We’ve now been married 7 years. Some days it feels just like yesterday that we were dating and other days it feels like much longer. But the thing is…. we still kind of like each other. (haha)

This year our anniversary fell on Labor Day Monday. It does that from time to time. I guess that’s what happens when you get married Labor Day Weekend. Chances are your anniversary will fall on Labor Day Weekend. Totally cool with that, because that meant we got to spend our Anniversary together. Score.

Our morning started off with breakfast at Jimmy’s Egg. Ever eaten at one of them? You should. They specialize in Breakfast and lunch. This… this is good and totally worth every last calorie laden bite. This is the Carnitas Skillet. I’ve tried and tried to find the description and I’m afraid if I tell you I’ll forget something…. so be prepared…. It’s hash browns, eggs, cheese (Monterey Jack), pulled pork, sausage, bacon (maybe, I can’t remember), topped with tomatoes and onions and just all around YUM!

My First Love & My First Kiss | Blogging 30

Oooh… should I be discussing my First Love and my First Kiss on the eve of my anniversary? Just wondering for a friend….

Ok, we’ll, address the first kiss first.

So… this is a fact I could use for tomorrow’s post… I was sweet 16 and never kissed. I really thought that was cool until I became that 16 years old who had never had a boyfriend nor had a kiss and then I just felt like a loser. So as a Junior who had never had a boyfriend or been kissed… I got set up on a blind date to football homecoming with a friend’s boyfriend’s friend. In fact, I think it might have been his cousin…

I didn’t know this guy. He was a year younger. I don’t even have a clue what his name is/was. Don’t worry, I did know at the time!

So… we maybe danced twice. He wasn’t interested in dancing I guess and I was shy. Like extremely shy.

KC Chiefs Helmets & Flip Flops {Sugar Cookie 8-12}

Hey, guys, I mentioned my Sugar Cookie Challenge… Well, I’ve been busy at it. The pictures above are Sugar Cookie orders 8-12. One order of 3 dozen, and 2 orders of 1 dozen apiece. Four of those 5 dozen were specifically KC Chiefs Helmets, the other 1 dozen order was… whatever. So I chose Flip Flops.

Now here’s something interesting about this particular batch of cookies… Earlier this year when I was still “studying” sugar cookies, I bought a book. Wow, what a concept. By the way, it was a hardback book versus a kindle book. I love the feel and smell of real books! There’s something ever so sweet about that.

7 Marriage Advice Tips

In 7 days it will be 7 years. And, that lighting makes me look like I have a mustache? I mustache why… ha!

Almost 7 years. Do I have it all figured out? Do you want marriage advice? Yeah… I’m not sure I could give you any…

Why? Well obviously because

  1. Marriage is hard.
  2. Every marriage is different.
  3. It’s only been almost 7 years… I don’t have all the answers.
  4. Yeah….

I heard either just before I was planning my wedding, or maybe while I was planning my wedding to pay attention to the planning process. It would be an indication of how the marriage would go. What?

Planning our wedding was easy for the most part. We had a few hiccups. But most of that time, from the time he proposed to the actual wedding day, we felt like we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs wondering what we were forgetting.

  • Flowers… check
  • Photographer… check
  • Dress… check
  • Tuxes… check
  • Wedding hall…. check
  • House to live in… check

What were we forgetting? Seriously, what were we forgetting? Turns out, we had all our t’s dotted and our i’s crossed… or something like that.

So here’s the advice I can give you….

The 2017 Totality Solar Eclipse, Were you there?

She wanted to be a part. I kept a close eye on her. And no, I didn’t look up without glasses. Neither did she.

I can remember seeing on Facebook (good old Facebook) months ago that they were predicting this Total Solar Eclipse. I have to say, I didn’t know it would get blown up nearly like it did… This last week leading up to the solar eclipse people were worried that they didn’t get their solar eclipse glasses and were worried because would the weather be okay and worried because…. Because where would they go to see the full effect, etc.

I remember back in 5th grade (I may date myself here) that there was a solar eclipse. What I don’t remember was the time of year it happened. I just remember the teachers taking us out on to the school ground. The Science Teacher, Mrs. Ihm did a whole lesson on it. Etc, etc. That year (in 5th grade), we had a science fair. I remember doing my project on the solar eclipse. I made the pinhole box and used a flashlight to demonstrate my eclipse. Somewhere I even have pictures of that, but I can’t seem to find them. I did look. Just for this post or at least one similar to it.
